Today, pathologists often receive requisitions following an endoscopic procedure in the form of jars with handwritten labels, sealed in plastic bags. So before any analysis work can be performed, a series of back and forth is necessary in order to decipher things like whether the label includes an “S” or a “5” and to validate the accuracy of the patient information provided. Then, this information must be entered into the pathology system in order to produce a print out that is likely handed off or faxed somewhere else.
eMerge eliminates these manual processes and provides a two-way data transfer mechanism. It manages all labeling, printing and information transfering to the existing pathology system. This means analysis can begin immediately and the conclusions drawn can be returned to the patient’s record in the same way the initial information was received.
